Honest Labor

For much of mine sojourn here on this veil of tears – I have endeavored diligently to occupy my hands upon the plow to fashion a home and living for me and mine.  It has not been an easy task.  Yea, there were times when from exhaustion or due to mine own selfish laziness I would fain set down the tools of my trade to indulge in vain self-indulgence and idleness.  But then, with a stout heart – encouraged by visions of what may become of us should I do so – I once more take up mine farm implements and wipe the sweat from my brow.  Despite the toil which I daily bear – t’is more than amply rewarded at even-time as I am blessed by a contented and loving wife beside a warm hearth and hearty supper.

T’is my understanding from my great great grandson that in your century many do not feel the need to toil or work for their daily bread.  Aye t’is a shame.  Naught that I feel disdain for such, but rather pity.  Those who can not render an honest day’s labor for an honest day’s pay must be denied the blessings of the fruits of their own labor.  Few things give one such satisfaction as to behold the work thine own hand which produced an item of beauty or provision of valuable service.

God blesses those who work.  It enlivens the spirit and emboldens the righteous heart to endeavor in honest labor for kit and kin.  To eat the bread of thine own labor beholden to none but the almighty is more than just reward for the sweat of thine own brow in producing it.  T’is the mark of a Christian – and a man.

To have honest bread for honest labor is the duty and joy of every human hand.
